Training and Certification
Davidson Bros in partnership with Tag Time offer Integrated Maintenance Services - specifically Training and Certification in "Safety testing and inspecting for electrical equipment"
The "safety testing & inspecting electrical equipment" course has been designed to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and certification to perform inspections and tests using approved Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) equipment and in accordance with the requirements and standards as laid down in the Code of Practice (NSW Construction & Civil Engineering) and Australian Standards AS3760.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a satisfactory knowledge of the legislative framework and its application in respect of testing and inspecting electrical equipment.
- Identify type of environment in which equipment is used.
- Indicate required testing intervals in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Identify the different types of electrical materials.
- Define current, voltage and resistance.
- Identify potential electrical hazards and implement preventative measures.
- Identify compliant machines and their time for calibration.
- Operate portable appliance tester (PAT, PAC) in accordance with manufacturer's operating procedures.
- Identify and select appropriate techniques in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Perform visual and physical inspection in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Determine equipment class in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Identify and select appropriate testing techniques in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Perform tests in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Carry out required action for Compliant and Non-Compliant equipment in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Select, write and fit required tags in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
- Log records of test and inspection in accordance with AS3760 and Code of Practice.
Facilitation & Learning Strategy
The course is delivered and competency assessments conducted by fully accredited Workplace Trainer & Assessor. The learning strategy emphasises experimental learning utilising guided learning techniques including explanation discussion, demonstration and the use of specially selected training aids.
Assessments & Certification
All course participants undergo formal assessment during and at the end of the course and when deemed competent measured against the standards as described in the learning outcomes, are issued with a Statement of Competency "Safety Testing & Inspecting of Electrical Equipment"
